To our Honored Guests, Fellow Members… Good Evening.
A year ago, I stood in front you, my hands shaking as I accepted the role of Chairperson, which this prestigious organization had bestowed upon me. A year ago, I was anxious, and even as my heart raced with excitement, / I was infinitely proud of how the body had acknowledged my devotion, and found me worthy of such an honor and privilege to serve LEAP. I knew that there would be challenges ahead – that much work was to be done if I were to see LEAP transform into the organization that I knew it could become – and this past year, we worked together tirelessly in upholding our organization’s values, and creating a wonderful environment for those serving in the Administrative profession.
We look back on all of the hours we’d spent, and on how our organization has continued to grow. This past year, we saw the induction of three new members: Czarina, Gretchen and Christine – three new members who have pledged, and offered support to a growing family of like-minded individuals. As of January 2016, we now have 44 members, I have no doubts that we will continue to see this number grow in the years to come.
Our continued efforts have also enabled us to adopt two more scholars from the National Teachers College, bringing our total number of scholars to six – four from the National Teachers College, and two from the Hero Foundation. Through our scholarship program, we hope to give back to the society that has helped shape us into the empowered professionals that we are today.
We’ve also been given the opportunity to spread the word about our organization, while educating communities about best in class practices in the field, through a highly successful public seminar entitled, “Raise the Bar and Become A Strategic Administrative Professional” held in Cagayan de Oro last October with Jonathan Yabut as our Speaker. The seminar saw forty seven participants come together to learn about how to succeed in the industry, as well as share their experiences, while creating a fruitful and engaging discussion. Likewise, we have also held successful roadshows at the De La Salle University in Dasmariñas, Cavite; Rizal Technological University in Mandaluyong City, and at the Polytechnic University of the Philippines in Taguig City. The success that we saw through these roadshows has prompted LEAP to begin looking at other opportunities to share the wealth of knowledge we have accumulated through the years.
But of course, LEAP is nothing without its cherished members, and this past year, we’ve also held events to celebrate the camaraderie and companionship we’ve fostered in the organization. From a Bowling Clinic last May, a Bowling Tournament last June, and Zumba session last September, to an outreach activity at the Bahay ni Maria Center in Makati City and Raffle Bonanza last November - we have also found the time to come together as friends and enjoy the company of the brilliant women who make up LEAP, without whom, none of our achievements would have been made possible.
That is why I would like to end by taking the occasion to thank the 2015 Board of Directors: (may I kindly request you to stand as I call your name – Elvi Garcia, Rose Escueta, Cynthia Arbis, Karen Prijoles, Liz Fernandez, Erlynne Figueroa and Leah Lacdao.
I would also like to thank Ms. Jinky Aguinaldo, Ms. Frances Peria, Ms. Ching Bognot for their unrelenting support. Certainly, each member has been invaluable in reaching the goals we have set for LEAP. The road to success is never easy, and as we greet a new year together, I hope that each of you will be filled with pride, knowing that you are helping in LEAP Transformation: Bolder, Brighter, Broader!
