As the induction ceremony just ended, this is to seal my acceptance of the responsibility to steer LEAP in its existing program of transformation to a bolder, brighter and broader 2017. Thank you for the trust and confidence in me and I hope you are all thrilled as I am for another exciting year with the organization.
As 2014 draws to a close, I thank God for the countless wonderful opportunities He has blessed me with and one of these is LEAP. LEAP has brought me teachable experiences far beyond any learning I could ever read in a book. My 2 years of Chairmanship have brought me immense growth, especially in the aspect of leadership. One may say that a Chairman’s job is easy. In many ways, it probably is. We thrive in the glory of recognition and may risk little (or much) in the process. However, in the grand scheme of things, what remains crucial in a Chairman’s job is how to strike that balance of introducing new dynamics and inspiring the team.
Honored Guests, Board of Directors, Esteemed LEAP colleagues, friends and family, I am honored at your presence. There are some occasions at which the most important thing one can say is "Thank You". For me, this is truly one of those occasions.
To our Honored Guests, thank you for sharing this occasion with us. To my dear Executive, Mader, thank you for the never ending support. To the Board of Directors, thank you for allowing me the great privilege of working with you. To my esteemed LEAP colleagues, thank you for making LEAP the wonderful organization that it is. To the lady who has served in this office before me thank you for your leadership and for making a difference not only in the life of this organization but in my life personally. And finally to my friends and family, thank you for your love and for being God's most precious gifts to me.
I stand before you now proud and anxious. Proud to have been chosen by this prestigious organization as the next Chairperson, yet anxious to be able to prove myself worthy of this honor which you have bestowed upon me. The road I took to this position was not an easy one, and many of you have stood witness to both the successes and challenges I've faced in my years serving LEAP.
Have you ever felt like you're stuck at some point in your career? It is very normal. Everyone goes through that. Maybe what's important is to get out of that funk! Some people are designed to move vertically at an almost steady pace and some are designed to grow horizontally. You may initially think of a woman's waistline when you encounter the word horizontal growth, but I am more referring to (personal and) professional growth.
