LEAP

The good old days have come and gone when health was considered the sole responsibility of the medical practitioner, family doctor, or some other ―healing-authority‖, and hardly ever the responsibility of the individual. All that was needed in those days to assign an individual with a clean bill of health was a visit to the doctor or a healing authority. Health as we understand it today has a much broader view and requires more responsibilities from the individual and less reliance on healing professionals. The communicable diseases of the past that killed people during major epidemics, from which few people ever survived, have almost been completely eradicated. Those communicable and killer diseases of the past have been replaced today by non-communicable, lifestyle related, but still killer diseases, led by cardiovascular or diseases of the heart and blood vessels.

Last February 16, we celebrated Valentine’s Day with a Healthy Heart Talk with our guest speaker Dr. Lawrence Allen Tria, just in time for the month of Hearts – Dr. Tria educated us on how we can avoid those heart diseases which is now the No. 1 cause of death in the Philippines.

Aside from this very informative talk, we have welcomed 2 new members of LEAP – Lara and Thet! We are happy to have you back in LEAP!!!

Last May 14, 2016, Saturday, LEAP had its Spiritual Enrichment Activity at Regina Rosarii (Mary Queen of the Rosary) in Tanay, Rizal led by the Spiritual Committee Chairman Ms. Erlynne Figueroa.

I googled immediately Regina Rica as it was my first time to heard of the place. I’ve found out that this place was big and tranquil. There’s Way of the Cross in the sprawling grounds. So, this place can get quite crowded during Lenten Season for prayer and pilgrimage. I have told myself that I will invite my mother to join me and my LEAP family in this spiritual event. I was thrilled to show her the pictures that I have collected when I got home and yes, like me, she was enthusiastic to join, too!

This two-day activity was full of enlightening words that brought the attendees from different walks of life to an enriching soul-searching moment with the Lord.
