During our roadshow at the NTC on September 6, 2014 where we conducted a lecture forum for the College of Accountancy and Business, our two scholars Roxelle Sobrido and Mico Largo surprised us with their heartwarming speeches. We are so proud of you Roxelle and Mico!
25th August marked a 1st for LEAP, when finally, after a postponement from the original 11th August schedule, our Roadshow pushed through.
Everything was great! Our initial meeting with Ms. Marlyn Mabalot, Dean at NTC, a few weeks back, paved the way for the conduct of the roadshow. Last Saturday, despite the weather forecasts, we were blessed with a cooperative one. We received a warm welcome upon reaching the National Teachers College, students looked eager on what we were to share. The preparations done were flawless.
Frances, Rose and myself were doubly excited meeting NTC. We arrived early in the venue and started off with a prayer. Students across year levels from the colleges of the Business Administration, Office Administration and Accountancy, around 400 of them came. At exactly 2:00pm, the programme kicked off. Mr. Jose Oscar Arguelles, Vice President for Planning, delivered the welcome remarks, thanked the students for coming. Mr. Arguelles acknowledged how important the role is of an Executive Assistant. He set the mood for an interactive afternoon session by asking the students what they think an Executive Assistant is. And yes, we did receive answers.
LEAP's L&D Chair, Ching Bognot, gave a brief on what L&D is and the reason why we were conducting the roadshow at NTC. LEAP’s Chair, Frances Peria, delivered her talk on the “Admin Landscape” and introduced LEAP. The students were impressed when the slide on member companies was shown. NTC prepared intermission numbers between our talks. Rose, on behalf of Tintin Cobreros (Chair, Organizational Sustainability) then discussed about the Scholarship – a partnership between LEAP and NTC. This is a project by the Organizational Sustainability Committee to support via scholarship a few students of NTC, the Admin Profession. We expect to have the project kicked off by the 2nd semester of SY 2012-2013.
Hapay na Mangga Elementary School is the smallest public school in Taytay, Rizal which has 811 students coming from the different barangays in the area.
In 2009, LEAP chose Hapay na Mangga Elementary School as beneficiary of our Adopt-a-School Project wherein members of LEAP personally sponsored 27 students. The sponsorship covers payment of tuition fee and school supplies for the whole school year. As of this time, LEAP is sponsoring 40 students from Grade 1 up to Grade 6 level.
Last June 2, 2012, we distributed school bags, school supplies and some goodies for our 40 scholars. We were also able to give some gift items to their Principal and Teachers. We cannot describe the happiness in the faces of these children, they can’t thank LEAP enough for all the blessings shared to them. And all that we ask is that they study well.
Of course, this project will not be successful without the support of those members who willingly shared their financial rewards so these 40 children will be able to go to school. We also thank our partner Ways and Means Committee for raising funds for these children. Thank you also to those members who shared their company products and personal donation. I also don’t want to miss to thank a very special person who is always there supporting LEAP and the scholars, Mang Joe may not be a member of our organization but he will always be a part of LEAP.
From what we get, we can make a living; what we give, however, makes a life.”

In time for our reflection for the coming Lenten Season, this month’s General Assembly opened with the Fr. Armand Robleza’s inspirational message which he aptly entitled "Seriously Speaking – Jesus The Christ". Indeed, listening to Fr. Armand speak gives you the feeling of hearing the words of Jesus Himself as He shared God’s wisdom. He taught us the 3 main dimensions of the "Self" and left us with 6 big lessons and questions we needed to contemplate on:
The Acquisitive Self – comprises of feelings, thought patterns, reactions and the numb self.
1) Say "enough" – When do we say "enough"? Decide what happiness and success mean to you otherwise you’ll drown yourself in clutter. We don’t have to be successful to be happy.
2) Share your blessings – Which treasures are you willing to give away? To love someone, you have to let go of something. What will you give up for love? Take the inner journey to your heart. God is so passionate! He gave you what you need!
